Volunteering

The Camp is run entirely by volunteers.  They have been responsible for renovating the buildings right through to running the Ramsey1940s Weekend, and everything in between.  A committee meet monthly to discuss management of the venue.  Every August the number of volunteers increases considerably as we rush headlong into building the 1940s Weekend Show.  Without such dedicated volunteers the Camp and the 1940s Weekend simply wouldn't happen.

So how can you help?  Simple!  We need people with all sorts of skill sets - and more importantly time to spare to become a volunteer.

We are always looking for enthusiastic people to join the Tuesday Gang.  These volunteers are onsite every Tuesday from 9.00am until 3.00pm.  They carry out the bulk of the renovation work in addition to the normal grounds and building maintenance.  They are the very heart of the Camp and the people who keep it alive.  Some even turn up on a Saturday as well.  If you have a practical skill set or just bags of enthusiasm and want to learn something new then come along on a Tuesday and meet the Tuesday Gang.

The Ramsey 1940s Weekend is well established within the 40's calender and attracts visitors from all over the world.  The Show has earned a reputation as being family orientated and friendly.  The friendliness comes from our stewards who work hard to ensure everyone has a good time and a memorable day.  Good stewards are very hard to come by which is why we need your help.  A lot of our stewards work the entire weekend and others one of the days.  All stewards who help for the whole day are looked after in our crew catering area where hot and cold drinks are available all day along with a substantial midday meal.  Full training is given on how to deal with various situations.  You will also get 'time off' to enjoy the show.

If you're available throughout the week running up to the show then you could be involved in absolutely anything!  There are fences to erect, dance floors to lay, stages to build, grass to trim, pitches to mark out, animals to feed, lighting to set up, crews to feed - the list goes on and on!
